A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a butcher with a plank of wood and a meat hook after an ongoing parking dispute.
Police allege the man, who owns a business nearby, entered a butchery on Prince Edward Street in Culburra, on the NSW south coast, about 2.40pm on Tuesday.
There, he allegedly assaulted the owner with a large piece of wood before striking the 66-year-old butcher across the face with a meat hook, leaving him with serious injuries.
Members of the public intervened in the fight and called emergency services.
The butcher was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for treatment, and his 44-year-old alleged attacker was arrested at his business and taken to Nowra police station.
He was charged with wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Nowra Local Court on Friday July 24.
