Serious concerns are held for the welfare of a Belgian tourist who was last seen in a remote northwestern Tasmanian town nearly two weeks ago.
Celine Cremer was reported missing on Monday, with Tasmanian Police finding her Honda CRV unattended in the car park of Philosopher Falls Trail on Tuesday.
She was last seen on June 17 in the nearby town of Waratah, about 205km west of Launceston, where weather conditions have been chilly, with rain and even light snow falling in the days since.
The young woman shared an image of her travels in Tasmania just months before going missing.
“A little devil in Tasmania,” she posted on Facebook on February 22 alongside a photo looking down on Hobart in Tasmania.
Ms Cremer also shared how much she was loving her travels in Australia.
“Australia is indeed so beautiful! And so big,” she wrote to a friend under the post.
“So little travelled in just a few months. I do, however, have a love for this magnificent island, precisely in the shape of a heart, in the south of the country...I currently live and work on the east coast, in a remote area bordered by a superb national park with various beaches, including one with white sand.”
Another loved one also commented on the photo saying that the young woman was welcome in their Texas home.
“Stop it, you gonna make me cry,” she replied.
Tasmania Police announced that they will keep searching on Wednesday, with ground search crews and a police drone currently at the scene and a helicopter to be used in the afternoon “if weather conditions allow”.
“To assist in the ongoing search, the Philosopher Falls walking track has been temporarily closed to the public while police conduct both land and air searches in the area,” Tasmania Police said on Facebook.
It’s understood Ms Cremer had been in Tasmania for some time.
“We no longer have sign of life of my sister Cé Crmr Wber as of June 16,” writes Celine’s sister Amélie on her own Facebook page.

“She was on a road trip to Tasmania before joining [sic] Melbourne via Ferry on June 21,” writes Amélie in the translated post.
Another post of Amélie’s indicates Celine’s mobile phone was connected to an internet network up until June 20.
“Anyone who has been in the Philosopher Falls carpark since 17 June is asked to contact police on 131 444 to advise if they saw Celine’s car in the area when they were there,” said Tasmania Police.
